Visual Poem - The Raven

The Raven

Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered, weak and weary,

Over many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore—

While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping,

As of some one gently rapping, rapping at my chamber door.

“Tis some visitor,” I muttered, “tapping at my chamber door—

Only this and nothing more.”

The poem I chose to visualize is The Raven by Allan Poe. The main character of this poem is mourning the loss of his beloved and he struggles with grief and it descends into madness. Through its use of repetition, rhythm, and symbolism, It creates a haunting and melancholic atmosphere, drawing people into the man's emotional turmoil. In this project, I aim to portray the protagonist's journey from grief to madness. I utilize bubbles as a visual motif to represent his feeling of being trapped and unable to move forward, as if he's ensnared in his own world. Additionally, bubbles, being fragile, mirror his current vulnerable state. The vibrant and psychedelic colors of the bubbles vividly capture the character's madness.
