Mission: Europa Clipper

Infographic Design

2025

This project focuses on designing infographic style frames for The Guardian’s new YouTube channel. The video highlights the upcoming launch of the Europa Clipper on October 10, 2024—its first mission to conduct a detailed study of Jupiter’s moon, Europa—while visually presenting key data from its journey.

CONCEPT:

I designed the YouTube channel to blend nostalgia with modern aesthetics, making science more engaging and approachable. Warm, retro-inspired visuals contrast with clean, minimal graphics for clarity. Using yellow as a highlight color aligns with The Guardian’s brand while enhancing key data points. To evoke discovery, the design mimics a science report, incorporating paper textures and handwritten elements for depth and visual interest.
DATA:

  • The Journey: Jupiter is on average some 480 million miles (about 770 million kilometers) from Earth. After journeying about 1.8 billion miles (2.9 billion kilometers) over 5½ years, the spacecraft will fire its engines to enter orbit around Jupiter in 2030. Europa Clipper will orbit Jupiter and conduct 49 close flybys of the moon to gather data.
